Anoikis (B5, S5, Lyta, rated G)

Title: Anoikis (homelessness)

Author: [livejournal.com profile] vjs2259

Character(s): Lyta Alexander

Rated: G

Word Count: ~270

Warnings: mid-Season 5, Phoenix Rising

Author's Note:  I heard the concept of anoikis discussed in a lecture, and the word stuck in my head. Being who I am, I (almost) immediately thought of Babylon 5. :)

from The Wiki: The word Anoikis was coined by Frisch and Francis in a paper published in the Journal of Cell Biology in 1994. Anoikis, in their words, means "(...the state of being without a home) to describe the cells' apoptotic response to the absence of cell–matrix interactions."

revealing a small tidy room that smelled of emptiness
...and a telepath of her magnitude could most likely smell emptiness... that simply.
What a multi-sensory picture you've offered to us mundanes!

I always liked Lyta, much more than I ever liked Talia (which was easy since I couldn't stand her). I wished that they'd explored Lyta more and what the Vorlons did to her rather than the Byron storyline.

You did an excellent job of portraying how she must have felt with each change her life took. She indeed had no home, especially after the Vorlons changed her.
