Fic: A Jovian Sunspot is to Blame
Title: A Jovian Sunspot is to Blame
Author: Mitzi the Magnificent
Pairing: Marcus Cole/Lennier, implied Marcus Cole/Susan Ivanova and Lennier/Delenn
Rating: PG
Summary: Set after Grey 17 is Lost.
Disclaimer: J. Michael Straczynski owns all the characters. I make no profit off of this.
"My love for Delenn is not quite what you might think. It is not romantic love as you consider it. It's something higher and nobler, a pure perfect love if you will. I know that Delenn is fated for another; I've accepted that, in my heart. But I have vowed to stay at her side through all things for as long as I live."

"Should you not tell her that you love her?"
Marcus looked up from his drink and gave a sad smile to his friend.
"Lennier, hello. You know that it is not quite as easy as that."
Marcus looked back down and took a sip of his drink. Lennier stood still, hands locked in the traditional Minbari greeting. He seemed to be waiting for Marcus to invite him to sit down.
"What are you doing Down Below, Lennier?"
"I was looking for you, actually. May I join you?"
Lennier sat down, without invitation, Marcus noted in his head.
"Well, you found me. What do you want?"
Marcus was not in the mood for idle talk. He wanted peace and quiet. That is why he was having a drink in a bar in Down Below.
"Would you not feel better, if you told Commander Ivanova how you feel about her?"
Marcus looked up at Lennier sharply; he was about to say something hurtful about Lennier's own admission some time ago, but he saw the sincerity and concern in his friend's eyes and remained silent. Marcus emptied the glass and started to get up.
"Leaving so soon?"
Lennier said, almost too quietly to be heard.
Marcus sat back down and sighed.
"Lennier, I cannot burden her with this. She has too much on her plate as it is. She doesn't need to have my feelings to worry about as well."
Marcus was mildly inebriated. He was hardly used to drinking anything alcoholic, but he had felt the desire to lose himself in a mellow Jovian Sunspot. He pondered getting another one, but decided against it. He became aware of Lennier staring at him.
"I do love her, you know. She is the most wonderful woman I have ever met."
Lennier smiled, but looked slightly confused.
"I have always found Commander Ivanova too forward and honestly, quite frightening."
"How can you say that, Lennier? She is more courageous than any man on this station, she is a true warrior. She has more integrity in her little finger than, than, well, anyone I know. And she is so beautiful. Her eyes are like bright blue stars..."
Marcus realised he sounded like a schoolboy with a crush on the girl he knew he would never have.
Lennier was still smiling as he said: "Well, I suppose she is beautiful, for a human. I find the lack of the head bones rather disturbing."
Marcus could not help laughing.
"Oh, Lennier, my friend. What a pair we make? Both of us pining after the unattainable. Oh, don't look at me like that. I would never tell her what you told me, but it must be painful to carry this alone."
The expression on Lennier's face was like an early autumn thunderstorm.
"My feelings for Delenn are more complicated than you could ever imagine and I do not wish to talk about this any further, Marcus."
"Yes, a pure and perfect love. More noble than romantic love. I know."
Lennier stood up sharply and turned to walk away, Marcus had to take a few running steps to catch up with him.
"I am sorry, Lennier. I will never mention this again. I was being stupid. I blame the Jovian Sunspot. Forgive me. Please."
Lennier stopped his hurried escape and turned to look at his friend. His expression softened and he nodded.
"You should be careful with that stuff, Marcus. It is not good for your brain."
Lennier looked at Marcus seriously, head tilted slightly. Then he smiled and Marcus could not suppress laughter.
"Come, walk with me. I may have some proper English tea, if you would like to taste some?"
"What is tea?"
When they reached Marcus' quarters, Marcus was enthusing over tea, trying to convince Lennier to have a taste.
"Come in, I will make you some tea. I promise you will like it."
Marcus grinned and was about to open the door when Lennier closed the gap between them and stood right in front of him, closer than was appropriate. Marcus fell silent. He felt a tingling somewhere in the pit of his stomach. Lennier's expression was serious as he leaned in to kiss Marcus. Tentatively, at first, worried that the other man would push him away, but Marcus did not.
