Pairing: I believe the notion that every fic contains a romantic or sexual pairing has done more than any other single factor to discredit fanfiction. Writers are not called to populate the ark, two by two. Authors Tell Stories.
Rating: I don't write explicit sex. I don't write gruesome violence. I don't believe either is necessary if the writer has skill and the reader has imagination. That said, it's a bit dark.
Spoilers: The story itself is far enough removed from the onscreen action that reading it should not in any way compromise one's enjoyment of the show. The author's notes, on the other hand...
Summary: Lyta Alexander undertakes a critical mission in the Telepath War.
Disclaimer: Disclaimers are a greater fiction than the story. Legally worthless, they would be no protection against a C&D, if anyone were inclined to serve one. We're violating intellectual property rights. If we're lucky, we won't get caught.
Author's Notes:
( Spoilers in the Author's Notes? Oh my! )Years later now, I've finally finished
The Best of Him. It is set post Season 5, pre-Sleeping in Light, during the Telepath War, probably during the period Crusade was designed to cover, although the time line gets somewhat murky there. It's rather dark, possibly a bit disturbing. It deviates from the canon established in telepath trilogy written by Greg Keyes (who is, I think, a brilliant writer as well as a charming and gracious human being. If you haven't read his non-B5 work, do go and find it. I'm particularly fond of his "alternative history" Age of Unreason series.)
