i hadn't rewatched the final in a long time before i did this and, as always, i forgot just how important it was to me, and how much it made me cry. babylon 5 was more than a story and to me, at the very least it was a work of art. every aspect was exactly how it should have been and every character changed me, moved me or inspired me to be better.

apologies for posting this a couple of times to start with, stupidly i was working with 'rich text' and that damn function has issues with me i tell ya... anyway, i hope you enjoy me small offering during this month of remembering one of the best things that ever happened to tv.

Title: The Colony
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jateshi
Warnings/Spoilers: References to "The Prisoner" and Alfred Bester's implied association with Bureau 13; references to events in Season 3.
Rating: G
Summary: The Psi Corps has more than one 'black' project and some of them delve deeper and stretch further than even their designers originally intended. Vacillica, an isolated colony world on the borders of Earth Alliance space, has become the perfect home for one of the Corps' oldest projects, known simply as "The Village" in records. Once it moved to its own planet, Vacillica became the next generation, so to speak, of the Village. Be seeing you.
Author's Notes: Planet classification terminology comes from John Dollan's Planetary Classification List. AreanLacustric worlds are in-stasis environments that are considered uninhabitable. ArchaeoGaian worlds are considered 'green marble' type worlds, ie those exemplary for human inhabitation. The shift of a planetary axis could be a factor that would drive a planet from one classification state to another. Yay science! Also, for those familiar with The Prisoner, you will notice that Bester plays the part of Number Two in much the same way as they always have been...
