All of life can be broken down into moments of transition or moments of revelation. This had the feeling of both.

G'Quan wrote, 'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way.' The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain."


Notes

The model of the shadow ship is courtesy of Evelio Perez-Albuerne. I imported the 3D Studio version into Blender, re-textured the model from scratch, arranged the scene in front of a picture of the Orian Nebula taken by the Hubble telescope, and rendered it. The font was added with Gimp.

This is an awesome monologue by G'Kar - pretty much my favorite closing monologue ever. Great job with the graphics; it's beautiful and creepy at the same time.

Yes, that monologue by G'Kar is just awesome! And the shadow ships are probably my most favourite space ship design, because they are, as you say, beautiful and creepy. I'm glad I was able to capture that! Thank you!

That is so cool, and it's always neat to see the work and thought that went into the v. pretty pictures. That's my favorite B5 quote, though it's almost a tie with Susan's 'new beginnings' speech. Thanks for linking to Evelio's site, too. It was interesting, and so many of the older B5 sites are going away, it's nice to visit one that's new to me.

I love that you used the Hubble shot, too, since its graphics were used so often in the series. Kudos!

Babylon 5 has many great monologues, but I think this is my favourite!

Initially, I was thinking of painting the background myself, but those Hubble shots are just too pretty, and I think it fits quite well.

The background is breahttaking with the darkness of the shadows in front of it. The quote is also a perfect choice. it is truly one of the quotes that make you lose your breath for a second or two. Thanks sooo much!
